Study on railway line from KK to S'kan, Tawau
Penampang: The Federal Government through the Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the State Government, is studying the possibility of extending the railway line from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan and Tawau so as to further enhance economic growth.Stating this, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said although railway is a State matter, his Ministry would not hesitate to help for the common good of Malaysia and Sabah.

"For example, although we have no control over the State Railway Department, we have allocated RM400 million to upgrade railway services in Sabah and we will continue to assist, including the proposed railway line to Sandakan and Tawau," he added. Liow, who is also MCA President, was speaking at the opening of the MCA Penampang Division new office, Wednesday. The office is situated at the Lintas Jaya Uptownship, near here.

At the function, Liow also officiated the Service Centre of MCA Penampang Deputy Chairman Datuk Paul Kong in his capacity as a Justice of the Peace (JP).
