Kota Kinabalu: Kian Kok Middle School hosted the 2026 College and University Education Fair, bringing together more than 60 local and international universities, colleges, professional training institutions and education centres.
The event provided students and parents with comprehensive information on higher education opportunities and future career pathways.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Datuk Dr Tan Kai Teck, Honorary Advisor of the Kian Kok Middle School Board of Management, who delivered a keynote address.
In his speech, Tan highlighted the rapid transformation of society driven by Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0, automation, big data analytics, robotics and digital technologies.
He stressed that future generations must build strong academic foundations alongside innovative thinking, problem-solving skills, adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning.
He also noted that choosing a suitable pathway after secondary education is one of the most important decisions students will make.
Tan said factors such as personal interests, academic strengths, career prospects, tuition costs, geographical location and future industry demand should be carefully considered.
He said education fairs serve as an important platform for students to engage directly with representatives from higher learning institutions and obtain accurate information before making decisions.
He encouraged students to make full use of the opportunity by visiting exhibition booths, asking questions and exploring available academic and career options.
He added that success is never accidental and begins with knowledge, is strengthened through careful planning and is achieved through perseverance and hard work.
Kian Kok Middle School said it remains committed to the holistic development of its students, with emphasis on academic excellence, character building and career planning.
The school’s annual education fair reflects its dedication to helping students gain clarity about their future aspirations and educational pathways.
