PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has revoked its directive imposing diesel sales limits on land transport vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, effective July 1.
The ministry said the March 27 directive, which capped diesel purchases at 50, 100 and 150 litres, was withdrawn following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement on June 21 on the implementation of the Budi Diesel programme.
Under the new mechanism, eligible users will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre using their MyKad at petrol stations from July 1.
KPDN said the revocation means retail licence holders selling petrol and diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will no longer be subject to the previous diesel sales control directive.
Director-General of Enforcement Datuk Azman Adam said the new mechanism is expected to ensure subsidised diesel is distributed in a more targeted, efficient and effective manner while making it easier for eligible consumers.
