Kota Kinabalu: Those who disagree on “Momogun”as a collective identity for Sabah’s indigenous people make up only 17.9pc of Sabah’s population but perceive themselves as strong and influential.
Former Momogun National Congress (MNC) President Datuk Henrynus Amin said these mainly Kadazan and Dusun communities should not impose their identity on other indigenous groups.

He said these Kadazan and Dusun communities concentrated in areas like Penampang, Tuaran and Tambunan should not dictate the identity of other indigenous groups like the Murut, Sungai, Bisaya, Idaan, and Tidung, who collectively represent about 20pc of Sabah’s population.
He also highlighted the challenges faced by indigenous Sabahans in national data systems, where they are categorised as “lain-lain” (others) rather than by their specific ethnic identities.
