PENAMPANG: A RM3,000 contribution was channelled to support the staging of the Mimpaagat Borneo International 7s 2026 football tournament at Penampang Stadium.
The contribution, from Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Mandela Bongkos Malakun, was presented by PGRS Moyog Division Vice President Petrus C. Mojuntin, on May 1.
Mimpaagat Club president Aloysius Wong received the contribution in the presence of advisor Datuk Robert Stidi and members of the organising committee.
The tournament, held from May 2 to 3, featured participation from teams in Brunei, Singapore and Australia, as well as from Peninsular Malaysia.
It centred on veteran categories comprising the 40s, 50s and 60s divisions.
Petrus said the initiative supported local football and reflected Penampang’s ability to host international-level events, while organisers expressed hope it would promote sportsmanship and healthy living.
