Kota Kinabalu: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch is encouraging eligible professional engineers to register for the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) Professional Competency Examination (PCE) 2026.
Its chairman Tan KJ
(pic) said the examination will be held on Oct 24 and 25, 2026, with the registration deadline set for Aug 31, 2026 via the MyBEM Online System.
He said the PCE is a mandatory requirement for Professional Engineers seeking a Practising Certificate, which allows them to submit engineering plans to local authorities and provide independent professional engineering services under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967.
He said the examination comprises two parts, namely Part A covering legislation, rules, ethics and related engineering laws, and Part B which focuses on discipline-specific technical questions.
He said obtaining the Practising Certificate is an important milestone for engineers, and urged eligible candidates, particularly those aiming to become consulting engineers or engineering leaders, to register before the closing date.
