LONDON: Britain's Prince William has officially become a billionaire, with a reported net worth of about US$1.6 billion (£1.2 billion), making him wealthier than his father, King Charles III,
The Mirror reported.
The Prince of Wales' wealth stems largely from the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which he inherited after Charles became king in 2022, according to the report.
The latest Sovereign Grant accounts showed William received a private income of about US$28.5 million during the 2025-26 financial year and has paid more than US$26 million in taxes since becoming Prince of Wales.
King Charles' personal fortune is estimated at about US$846 million, leaving him short of billionaire status despite an increase in wealth over the past year.
William has also announced plans to sell about 20 per cent of the Duchy of Cornwall over the next decade to fund affordable housing and environmental projects across the UK.
