I WOULD like to complain about the extremely poor service of Telekom Malaysia (TM) technicians of Papar. We live in Kampung Novoung. Our telephone could not function in late November due to a fallen tree on the telephone cables.
We complained and the cables were promptly fixed, however our telephone still could not function.
I called TM customer service and they said they would attend to the problem. After a month there was still nothing. Not one technician visited us to check the problem. I then e-mailed TM's Help line and was told the problem would be looked into. After a few weeks there was still nobody coming to check on our lines.
We then decided to delay our bill payments since we have not been able to use the telephone. I then e-mailed TM again but this time was told that our lines have been de-activated because we did not pay our bills.
Then in January I settled the bill. But still the phone did not work.
Then I called up TM again, and was told that my line would be re-activated. After a day, there was still nothing.
I then e-mailed TM again and they said they would send a technician.
There was a call the next day from a TM technician to my wife.
But until today they have not come to check on our telephone line.
I then called the number that the TM technician used to call my wife.
Somebody answered and told me that he did not know who called me and that my area was not within his jurisdiction. He told me that he would find who called me and ask them to call me back. But still nothing happened.
Today we are in the middle of February, yet we have paid so much money to TM for nothing. We have no telephone line and not a single TM technician has come to check our phone line.
I am extremely disappointed with TM and the disruption of telephone services has caused much inconvenience to us. In January we even decided to cancel our Streamyx service. And to think of it, when we applied for our Streamyx package we were promised a free cordless telephone (in 2011) which never came to this day.
As I am writing this letter, my wife (whose name the phone is registered under) has gone to the Papar TM office to make another complaint.
I would like to thank the Papar TM's front-desk staff who have been extremely kind and helpful.
But as for their technicians, I do not know what to say.
I hope TM would look into this immediately. If nothing still happens I am considering taking action through the Consumer Claims Tribunal to get a refund of all the bills I have paid since December.
-It was made known that the problem was rectified only on Friday. - Ed
