Kuala Lumpur: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has cancelled the directive regulating diesel sales limits to land transport vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, effective Wednesday (July 1).
KPDN Enforcement Director-General Datuk Azman Adnan said this included purchase limits of 50, 100 and 150 litres.
He said the revocation of the March 27 directive follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s June 21 announcement on standardising subsidised diesel prices under the Budi Diesel programme at RM2.10 per litre.
He said the cancellation is also in line with the new mechanism for purchasing subsidised diesel using MyKad at petrol stations, which takes effect on Wednesday.
“All retail licence holders selling petrol or diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan are advised that the diesel sale restriction directive is no longer in force from that date,” Azman said in a statement.
He added the Ministry is confident the new mechanism will ensure targeted, efficient distribution of subsidised diesel while facilitating transactions for eligible consumers.
The Ministry urged all parties to comply fully with the mechanism to ensure smooth implementation for the benefit of the people and the nation.
