PENAMPANG: Penampang United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) has urged its president Datuk Ewon Benedick to resign from the Federal Cabinet if the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) proceeds with an appeal against the High Court’s ruling affirming Sabah’s entitlement to 40 per cent of federal revenue collected from the state.

Led by Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, the division passed a resolution supporting the court’s decision in favour of the judicial review filed by the Sabah Law Society (SLS) on the constitutional right to the 40 per cent revenue entitlement.

The convention also resolved that the Federal Government should comply with the judgment and reach an agreement within 180 days on the payment of the entitled revenue.

Donald said Upko would stand in solidarity with the people of Sabah and remain steadfast in fighting for rights enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Federal Constitution.

Ewon stated that he fully bears responsibility for all resolutions passed at the convention, adding that he would formally convey his position in the upcoming Cabinet meeting for the record.
