KENINGAU: Religious celebrations are not only occasions to commemorate history but also opportunities to strengthen the values of love, unity and hope within the community.
With that spirit in mind, Bingkor Assemblyman and Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Sr. Mohd Ishak Ayub joined the Catholic community in celebrating the 33rd Diocesan Anniversary of Apin-Apin Zone 2026, held recently at Kampung Kirokot Baru, Apin-Apin.
The celebration brought together Catholics from across Apin-Apin Zone in a spirit of fellowship, thanksgiving and unity, while highlighting the Church’s continuing role as a strategic partner in nurturing strong families, moral values and community development.
Mohd Ishak said the values of mutual respect, unity and service to others should continue to be upheld, as they form the foundation of a harmonious and progressive society.
He noted that programmes such as the diocesan anniversary celebration not only strengthen bonds among members of the Catholic community but also promote understanding and goodwill among people of different backgrounds.
“The spirit of togetherness and mutual respect that we witness today is an important strength in preserving harmony within our multi-racial and multi-religious society,” he said.
Mohd Ishak also congratulated the Catholic community of Apin-Apin Zone on celebrating its 33rd anniversary, expressing hope that the strong sense of unity and fellowship fostered through the Church would continue to flourish beyond religious activities and contribute positively to the wider community.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting community-based programmes that promote social cohesion, cultural appreciation and shared values, describing such initiatives as vital in strengthening unity and improving the well-being of the people.
The anniversary celebration reflected the enduring role of the Church in bringing communities together through faith, service and compassion while reinforcing the importance of unity and cooperation in building a peaceful and prosperous Sabah.
