Kota Kinabalu: Students from primary and secondary schools across Sabah will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, innovation and scientific inquiry during the Science and Faith Project Competition Exhibition and Judging 2026 at All Saints Secondary School hall in Likas on July 18.
The programme is organised by the Sabah Interdenominational Education Committee (SiEC) in collaboration with the Sabah Education Department as a State-level co-curricular activity for the Christian Students’ Fellowship (PPK).
Carrying the theme, “Science and Faith: Discovering the Creator through Creation”, the competition aims to inspire students to explore the relationship between scientific inquiry and faith through meaningful project-based learning experiences.
According to SiEC, the programme encourages young people to investigate the natural world, appreciate its complexity and order, and reflect on how creation points to the wisdom, creativity and majesty of the Creator.
The competition has been established not only to promote scientific curiosity and critical thinking, but also to encourage students to reflect on values, purpose, stewardship and responsibility.
By integrating science, creativity, innovation and faith, the initiative seeks to contribute to the holistic development of young people while nurturing a deeper appreciation of the world around them.
During the exhibition, participating students will present their projects, share their discoveries and explain how their work relates to the competition theme.
Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on scientific accuracy, creativity, innovation, clarity of presentation, teamwork and the effectiveness with which participants connect their projects to the theme, “Science and Faith: Discovering the Creator through Creation”.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to engage directly with participants and learn how scientific investigation can lead to a greater appreciation of creation and its Creator.
SiEC expressed its sincere appreciation to the Sabah State Education Department, participating schools, teacher advisors, parents, sponsors, volunteers and community partners whose support and encouragement have contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.
The committee said the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders have played a vital role in providing students with a platform to develop their knowledge, skills and character.
The public is invited to attend the exhibition and judging event, which will take place from 9am to 4pm on Saturday (July 18).
The programme is expected to attract participation from Christian Students’ Fellowship members from schools throughout Sabah, showcasing a wide range of projects that combine scientific exploration with faith-based reflection.
Organisers hope the competition will inspire students to pursue excellence in learning while fostering a deeper understanding of the relationship between science and faith.
