Kuala Lumpur: The Tamparuli low-level crossing is scheduled for completion by the end of September this year, with the Works Ministry (KKR) stating that the bridge is expected to reopen to motorists in early October.
The update was provided in a written parliamentary reply after Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (

Madius, who is also the Tamparuli assemblyman, asked the Ministry to outline alternative measures to ease congestion along Jalan Telibong–Pekan Tamparuli and the main Tamparuli-Ranau route following the closure.
KKR said checks by the Sabah Public Works Department (PWD) found the bridge is under the Department's jurisdiction and managed by a State Government-appointed concessionaire, adding that it had to be closed because of structural damage requiring urgent repairs.
The Ministry advised road users to use Jalan Bontoi-Tamparuli and the Kota Kinabalu-Kudat road as alternative routes throughout the closure to help ease traffic congestion.
KKR also said the low-level crossing is planned to be upgraded into a permanent bridge, with funding approved under Rolling Plan 5 of the 12th Malaysia Plan through the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, while an application for a replacement bridge project under Rolling Plan 2 of the 13th Malaysia Plan will only be decided after the 2027 Federal Budget is tabled.
