Charged with assaulting daughter
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code, carries a jail term of up to one year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. 
Kota Kinabalu: An e-hailing driver was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on with assaulting his teenage daughter.

Mohd Yuslin Mohd Yassin, 44, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to voluntarily causing hurt to his 17-year-old daughter, on June 8, at 1.30pm, at a house in Kg Ketiau, Putatan.

The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code, carries a jail term of up to one year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. 

Section 326A provides for up to twice the maximum term of imprisonment for offences committed against a spouse, former spouse, child, incapacitated adult or other protected family member.

The court fixed Aug 19 for pre-trial case management and released Yuslin on bail of RM3,000 in two sureties.

He was also ordered to report to the nearest police station once a month.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old labourer was charged with criminal intimidation by threatening to kill his wife.

Azizi Ammang pleaded not guilty to threatening to cause the death of his 35-year-old wife on June 29, at 5.10pm, at a roadside parking area outside the Inanam Laut night market.

The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of up to two years, or a fine, or both, and up to seven years’ imprisonment if the threat is to cause death or grievous hurt.

The court also fixed Aug 19 for pre-trial case management.

Azizi was ordered to be further remanded after the prosecution objected to bail on the ground that he and the complainant were living in the same house.
