Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) and Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration to accelerate Sabah’s industrial and economic development.
The commitment was highlighted during a corporate learning visit by a Sedco delegation led by Group General Manager Datuk James Wong to KKIP, where they were received by Group Chief Executive Officer Cecilia Amid and their respective management teams.
Both organisations agreed that closer cooperation, the exchange of best practices and strategic initiatives would support Sabah’s long-term industrial growth and economic transformation under the State Government’s development agenda.
They also recognised that Government-linked companies under the Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry (Mindet) possess complementary strengths that could be better leveraged through stronger coordination and strategic alignment.
According to the statement, such collaboration would help attract quality investments, accelerate project implementation, strengthen local industries and generate greater value for Sabah.
During the visit, KKIP shared its development journey and progress achieved through its integrated mixed-use model, combining industrial, commercial, logistics, residential and supporting developments within a single ecosystem.
Sedco said the visit provided valuable insights into integrated industrial park planning, investor facilitation and township development, which would benefit its future industrial initiatives, including the Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park (KBEIP).
Both parties also discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration across Sabah’s industrial value chain, particularly in affordable housing, industrial infrastructure and strategic manufacturing by leveraging the capabilities of State-linked entities.
The delegation toured KKIP’s Industrialised Building System (IBS) Factory, where both organisations explored immediate collaboration between KKIP IBS and Sedco Precast, as well as future cooperation in industrial parks, township development, infrastructure and strategic investments.
Both organisations said the discussions reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening partnerships, fostering innovation and supporting Sabah’s industrialisation agenda to attract investments, create quality employment opportunities and deliver long-term economic benefits for the State.
