LABUAN: Sabah Electricity was taken to task for continued regular blackouts and failing to meet public satisfaction.
Activist Haji Abdul Jalil Ghani said it recently announced having surplus power and better days ahead but there is not much improvement at ground level with regular complaints.

Jalali was referring to the latest incident at a charitable day centre which was without power supply about four hours because a fuse needed to be replaced.
The incident impacted about 30 dialysis patients who were waiting for treatment because SESB failed to immediately respond to the distress call when SE workers came later and claimed they were only just informed.
“It was a health risk matter and serious miscommunication between units in the same department is a lame excuse.”
Jalil noted securing power supply required payments such as deposits, cost of external wiring and poles and in some cases to build a costly new substation.
“In return consumers expect every complaint big or small t be responded swiftly,” said Jalil.
He said the cost of doing business was high these days and traders should not be burdened by blackouts.
He also suggested that the Sabah Energy Commission consider having a panel to keep watch on SE to ensure no delayed action on complaints.
