Kota Kinabalu: Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee brings decades of leadership and global insight to steer the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce into its most ambitious phase yet, as its new Honorary Adviser.
The appointment was officially sealed when SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew and his leadership team paid a courtesy call at the Sabah Progressive Party headquarters in Likas.

Frankie said securing Yong — a respected figure in governance, law, commerce and international relations — marks a major boost as the chamber steps up efforts to unlock greater trade and investment for Sabah.
“His proven vision and deep understanding of Sabah’s interests will be invaluable. This is more than an honour — it gives us sharper direction to bring real economic gains to our State,” Frankie said.
Fresh plans unveiled include setting up a dedicated Investment Bureau and an investment arm, alongside landmark expos coming this November:
- Malaysia (Sabah)-China Expo
- Sabah Hotel Expo (Sohex)
Both run from Nov 20–22 and will serve as key gateways linking Sabah, China and wider Asean for partnerships, business matching and resource sharing.
Guided by the principles of mutual assistance, connectivity and benefit, SCCC aims to deepen ties between Sabah, Chinese authorities and enterprises — turning opportunities into tangible growth and jobs for Sabahans.
Yong, as SAPP President and seasoned former leader, is widely credited for shaping Sabah’s development landscape, and will now help chart this new chapter of cross-border economic cooperation.
