KOTA KINABALU: Newly elected United Taekwondo Association of Sabah (UTSA) President Dr Bonaventure Boniface has outlined five key missions to drive the structured and competitive development of taekwondo in Sabah.
Dr Bonaventure said the priorities are to digitalise the association’s governance, provide high-quality training infrastructure and facilities, promote integrity and professional governance, develop disciplined and competitive young athletes, and strengthen administration and communication between the association and its affiliated clubs.

He said the association’s success could only be achieved through the collective efforts of coaches, athletes, officials and all clubs under the UTSA umbrella.
“I believe success can only be achieved through unity. Let us work together, put aside our differences and move forward as one family in elevating Sabah taekwondo to greater heights,” he said.
Dr Bonaventure was elected as the new president during the UTSA Annual General meeting, recently.
The meeting also saw the announcement of UTSA’s new leadership line-up for the current term where Grand Master (GM) Raman Anthony was elected as Deputy President, while Arfahzanshah Hj Marlan, Mohd Iskandar Syah Shamsuddin and Mujayal Ebno were elected Vice-Presidents.
Also appointed were Siti Norma as Secretary-General, Wong Yew Sing as Treasurer-General and GM Barry Voon Yuk Choi as Chairman of the Technical Committee.
The Executive Committee members are Ervin Ambu, Nandabalan A/L Husin, Sajdi Jupin, Rusfredy Tokan Petrus and Chao Yew Ming.
After receiving the mandate from delegates, Dr Bonaventure expressed his gratitude and appreciation to UTSA members and delegates for entrusting him with the leadership of the association.
He also paid tribute to the outgoing leadership for their dedication, sacrifices and contributions to the development of taekwondo in Sabah.
“The efforts of the previous leadership have provided a strong foundation for us to continue advancing Sabah taekwondo to greater heights. Their contributions will always be remembered and appreciated,” he said.
Dr Bonaventure also conveyed his special appreciation to Technical Head of Taekwondo Malaysia GM Dhanaraj Rassiah, for attending the meeting and witnessing the election of the new leadership.
He said Dhanaraj’s presence was a great honour for the Sabah taekwondo community and reflected the close relationship between Taekwondo Malaysia and the association in the State.
