Kota Kinabalu: Maybank’s Gaya Street branch garnered significant attention on Xiaohongshu, a popular Chinese social media platform known for its influential travel and lifestyle recommendations.
Despite being closed for an extended renovation, this location has captured the interest of many users.
Kota Kinabalu MP Datuk Chan Foong Hin noted that the Maybank branch has unexpectedly become a popular tourist attraction among Chinese visitors to Malaysia.
“Although I don’t quite understand the trend, it’s clear that our city is gaining popularity among tourists, which reflects the rich tourism resources Kota Kinabalu has to offer,” he said in a Facebook post.
