PUTATAN: A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after his motorcycle caught fire following a collision with a vehicle along Jalan Utama in front of the Perodua showroom here on Thursday.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 4.45am and dispatched eight personnel from the Putatan station, arriving at the scene six minutes later.

Firefighters extinguished the motorcycle fire using a first-aid hose line before the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was handed over to the police for further action.

After carrying out a thorough inspection to ensure there were no further hazards, the operation was brought under control at 4.56am and concluded at 5.17am.
