KINABATANGAN: A 48-year-old man was killed while another man, 43, was injured after an eight-tonne lorry reportedly skidded off the road at Kampung Paris 2 here on Thursday.

The Fire and Rescue Department said both victims were trapped inside the vehicle when firefighters from the Kinabatangan station arrived at the scene following an emergency call received at 5.16am.

Firefighters rescued the injured victim and handed him over to the Ministry of Health team for further treatment, while the second victim, who was trapped beneath the front section of the lorry, was extricated using special rescue equipment with the assistance of an excavator.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel before his body was handed over to police for further action, while the operation ended at 7.30am.
