Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) secured second place in the overall standing at the 5th Shureido International Cup Championship concluded at the Dewan Serbaguna Menara PT 80 in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
They took home a total of four golds, five silvers and three bronzes to finish just behind Kedah Karate Association, who topped the event with five golds, three silvers and none bronzes.
Nur Ain Humairah Abdul Rahman, Danish Rayyan Rajis, Muhammad Syahzullah Halim and Al. Zovainz Zurizal were the gold medal winners.
The silvers were delivered by Christabelle Odelia Tom Lujain, Oxlade Macriel Marcel, Ivy Catrinaz Zurizal and Rose Dayana Mohammad Hamli, while the bronze medals came from Johnny Junior, Eve Starnasia Manuel and Hezrond Ankes Hasland.
SKA secretary Julian Chin said it was a productive outing for the contingent comprising 17 athletes as he had earlier stated that their main focus was not on winning medals but on development.
