Kuala Lumpur: A traveller believed to be a foreigner allegedly allowed a young child to defecate into a rubbish bin at a departure gate waiting area at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), in full view of other passengers, The Rakyat Post reported.

The incident, which reportedly occurred before a Kuala Lumpur-to-Penang flight, was captured on video and later shared on Threads, where it attracted widespread attention.

According to the passenger who posted the video, the father held the child over the rubbish bin while the child defecated in the open waiting area.

The passenger claimed the smell spread throughout the gate area and noted that a public toilet was located nearby.

She also said the child's mother was later seen walking to the nearby public toilet to wash her hands.

The incident prompted widespread criticism online, with many commenters urging travellers to observe basic public hygiene and courtesy in shared spaces.

Some social media users speculated about the family's nationality and compared the incident with a recent controversy involving Malaysian tourist Nur Asyiqin Mohd Dalil, although the family's identity has not been independently verified.
