SANDAKAN: This a district, which is rich in history and natural beauty, is undergoing a transformation aimed at boosting its tourism sector and preserving local cultural heritage.
With strong commitment from relevant authorities, Sandakan is expected to become a prime destination for both domestic and international tourists by 2025.
In preparation for its inaugural international flights, Sandakan has heeded the advice of Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac), Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, by increasing the capacity of accommodations and restaurants.
One notable development is the completion of the “Gerbang Sandakan” Monument in December, funded by federal government in collaboration with Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority and the Sandakan Municipal Council.
