SANDAKAN: Three people were rescued after a falling teak tree crashed on the car they were travelling in during bad weather along Jalan Lintas Sibuga, here, on Thursday night.
Sandakan Civil Defence Force (APM) District Officer Capt Sulaiman Salama said a team was immediately dispatched to the scene after they received an emergency call through the NG999 hotline.

“Upon arrival, APM personnel found a car underneath a fallen teak tree, with three people trapped inside.
“The team rescued all three victims and provided first aid to one of them who sustained a minor elbow injury,” he said, Friday.
He said APM personnel also cut and removed the fallen tree that had blocked the road to allow traffic flow to resume.
According to Sulaiman, the operation was completed with no loss of life.
He advised motorists to remain vigilant when driving, especially during heavy rain or strong winds, as such weather conditions increase the risk of falling trees.
He also urged the public to immediately contact the emergency hotline if they encounter any incident that could threaten public safety.
