Authorities at the scene.
SANDAKAN: Three people were rescued after the car they were travelling in was crushed by a falling teak tree along Jalan Lintas Sibuga during bad weather on Thursday night.

Sandakan Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer Capt (PA) Sulaiman Salama said the district APM received an emergency call through the NG999 hotline before a team was dispatched to the scene.

He said rescuers found the vehicle trapped beneath the fallen tree and safely extricated all three victims, with one sustaining minor injuries to the elbow and receiving initial treatment at the scene.

The team also cut and cleared the fallen tree that had blocked the road, allowing the route to be reopened to traffic, while the operation was completed without any loss of life.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
Sulaiman advised motorists to remain vigilant during heavy rain or strong winds due to the risk of falling trees and urged the public to contact the emergency hotline immediately should any incident threaten public safety.
