Kota Kinabalu: Inspector General of Projects Sabah, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, will prepare a comprehensive report on the progress and challenges facing two work packages under the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway project for submission to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The report follows his site inspections of Work Package 01 (WP01) and Work Package 02 (WP02), Thursday, aimed at obtaining first-hand information on the actual progress of construction works and issues affecting implementation.

Salleh said the report would highlight key findings from the inspections, recommended solutions and the proposed way forward, including areas where government intervention may be required to expedite project delivery.

He said the visit enabled him to gain a comprehensive understanding of the technical and contractual issues facing the project through direct briefings from the Public Works Department (JKR) and contractors involved.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
“Site inspections are important because they provide a realistic assessment of progress and allow us to understand the challenges directly from those responsible for delivering the project.

“This helps ensure that decisions and recommendations are based on actual conditions rather than reports alone,” he said.

Salleh said seeing the situation on the ground provided a clearer picture of the issues confronting the project and allowed practical solutions to be identified to accelerate implementation.

He stressed that the timely completion of infrastructure projects remains a priority, as delays carry significant economic and social costs.

“Every delay has a cost. Our priority is to ensure these projects are completed efficiently so that the people of Sabah can enjoy the intended benefits without unnecessary delay,” he said.

Salleh also reaffirmed his commitment to closely monitoring the progress of strategic infrastructure projects across Sabah and working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure issues are addressed promptly and project delivery remains on track.

The inspections formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure major infrastructure projects in the State are implemented efficiently and deliver the intended benefits to the people.
