Bomb disrupts ops at Labuan Airport again
LABUAN: Operations at Labuan Airport were disrupted Thursday after an old bomb, believed to be from the Second World War, was found at 3.45pm about 200 metres from the airport runway on land owned by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) near Kerupang.

The latest discovery came just days (June 26) after several suspected World War II bombs were unearthed at the same location, which also disrupted airport operations.

The police and RMAF personnel are working on removing the bomb for demolition. Labuan Police Chief Supt Wan Mohd Firdaus Wan Zaki said the situation was under control, and that bomb disposal teams were carrying out the safe removal process.

He advised members of the public to remain calm, and not to spread unverified or false information which could cause unnecessary panic,” he said.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
The disruption affected several scheduled flights, with departures to Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Miri delayed, while a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan was diverted to Miri.

Airport operations are expected to resume after 8pm once the bomb removal and demolition operation is completed and the area is declared safe by the authorities
