Office fridge complaint sparks hygiene debate
For illustrative purposes only.
Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian woman's complaint about colleagues leaving half-consumed drinks in a shared office refrigerator has gone viral, prompting discussion on workplace hygiene and etiquette.

In a Threads post, she shared a photo of several boxed drinks with exposed straws stored in the office refrigerator, saying she would have thrown them away if they had been left in her own home.

She also claimed the colleagues involved had science backgrounds, adding that she was surprised they would leave unfinished drinks uncovered in a shared space.

Many social media users agreed the practice was unhygienic and could increase the risk of cross-contamination, while others shared similar experiences in their workplaces.

Some users said their offices enforced strict pantry rules requiring unfinished food and drinks to be discarded at the end of each workday to maintain cleanliness and food safety.
