Kota Kinabalu: Mohamad Rafiq Anugerah Ali won the amateur title at the Jakarta International Junior and Amateur Golf Championship held at the Royale Golf in Jakarta on July 7-9.
The 19-year-old Sabahan recorded a three-day total score of 224 over the three-day tournament, finishing with rounds of 77, 75 and an impressive final round of 72 to take the title as well as finishing second overall in the championship.
Local competitor Nicholas Einsa came in second with 227 (82-70-75) followed by Mohd Ayaan J from India with 229 (77-77-75).
Rafiq was one of four Sabahans representing Sportexcel Malaysia Borneo Division at the championship.
The others competing in category A were 18-year-olds Noah Elhamd Esfaham Kamarudin and Dylan Zayden Darius as well as 15-year-old Khayr Akhtar Ummar Arif, who finished fourth, while Dylan came in fifth.
