Kota Kinabalu: Mazlan Herma from Shan-Shui Golf and Country Club captured the men’s gross title at the 24th TGC (Tawau Golf Club) Amateur Open Golf Championship held recently.
He won the main prize with a three-day score of 227 and behind him was TGC’s Suzairi Iqmah, who secured second place with 233 followed by Abdullah Dania from Malaysia Golf Association (MGA) with 235.
The nett title was won by Roslan Mustamin (142) and in second place was Mohd Rashiman Ambo (143) with Hasnata Hasan (145) in third, while the top three invitee winners were Datuk Peter Koh, HJ Syah Rizal and Edora Mojiniu.
In the ladies, Jamie Tan was the gross winner and in second place was Nurul Syahirah, while Julia Hwong and Elaine Quek claimed the top two places in the nett category.
A total of 233 players participated in the competition, which also saw Mazlan score a hole-in-one on day one on hole four, and Jonathan achieved a similar feat on day two on hole six.
Meanwhile, TGC also organised the 6th Senior Men’s Amateur Open Golf Championship, which was held a week earlier that drawn in 131 entries.
Lee Ka Tung (146) emerged as the gross winner followed by Mitchell Graham (150) and Johari Ahmad (165), while Taib Arjani (134), Chin Thau Kim (146) and Ng Loong Fah claimed the top three places in the nett category.
