Kota Kinabalu: Sedco athletes are urged to produce their best in the 18th Gemaputra Games starting in Sarawak this Sunday (July 26).
Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong Kein Peng made the call during the jersey and flag presentation ceremony held at Wisma Sedco, here, on Friday.
Fifty-eight members represent the contingent in the biennial inter-corporation sports event featuring a total of 15 teams from all over the country.
James said in his speech that representing Sedco is a true privilege and a recognition of the athletes’ hard work, discipline, and dedication
“Congratulations to all the members. I hope you will compete with courage, play with passion, support one another, never give up and always give your very best.
“No matter which sport you compete in, remember that you never compete alone. You compete as one Sedo. Satu pasukan. Satu matlamat. Satu keluarga Sedco,” he said.

He further reminded the athletes that success is not merely defined by their standing on the medal tally.
“Champions are not remembered only for the medals they win. They are remembered for the character they display, the value they uphold and the pride with which they represent their team.”
Meanwhile, chef de mission Haji Azrul Ahmad said that they are targeting a top-three finish in the overall standings.
“We will compete in only four of the seven available sports this time: carrom, futsal, golf, and bowling.
“However, we will definitely try our very best and with the training we had since last year, hopefully we can achieve our target.
“We finished fourth at the last meet, and this time we aim for third place or to defend our position,” he said.
