KOTA BELUD: A 41-year-old local was found dead in a roadside drain beside his motorcycle at Kampung Tambilaung, here, on Thursday.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief Elge Bakuk said the station received a call from the police at 2.07pm after the victim was found unconscious by a cleaning worker.
He said eight firefighters, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle, were deployed to the scene about 25km from the station.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found a man in the drain together with a motorcycle.
“The victim was extricated from the drain and handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
Preliminary investigations found the victim was believed to have been travelling from Kota Marudu towards Kota Belud when he lost control of the motorcycle, veered onto the left road shoulder and plunged into the drain.
