The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
It was reported in January that he was critically ill. He had, however, denied the rumours but confirmed that he was being treated for a "health condition'.

He was reported to have been making frequent trips to China for medical treatment and was finally able to have the transplant done.
