MANILA: The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) Sabah, led by Vice Chairperson Datuk Susan Chang, concluded a trade mission to the Philippines, paving the way for significant collaboration between Sabah and the Philippines in the halal sector.
The mission, from Aug 18 to 21, culminated in the 1st PCCI BIMP-EAGA Trade, Investment and Halal Industry Conference in Manila, bringing together key stakeholders from both countries.
The conference served as a platform for MICCI Sabah to showcase Sabah’s strengths in the halal sector and explore potential partnerships with Philippine counterparts.
During discussions with key Philippine government officials including Honourable Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, Acting Secretary of the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), and Secretary Leo Tereso Magno, Susan said the Philippine Signing Minister of BIMP-EAGA emphasized the potential for significant bilateral trade between Sabah and the Philippines, particularly in the halal sector.
“Mindanao, with its strategic location and strong ties within the BIMP-EAGA sub-region, holds immense potential to become a global halal industry powerhouse,” Datuk Chang stated.
