No oil and gas exploration bid within the Tun Mustapha Marine Park
Kota Kinabalu: State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said she has not received any application or approvals related to oil and gas exploration activities within the Tun Mustapha Marine Park in Kudat.

She said the marine park is a protected area, gazetted under the Parks Enactment 1984 in 2016 and all activities within the park require prior approval from the State Government.

“The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Environment (KePKAS), through the Board of Trustees of Sabah Parks, is responsible for ensuring that the marine ecosystem within the protected area is fully preserved by the Parks Enactment 1984 and other related State Laws,” Liew said.

KePKAS and the Environment Protection Department have also confirmed with the Department of Environment that, as of today, no Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports have been submitted for the SB-403 Production Sharing Contract site.
