KENINGAU: The Kujau Gana Nabai Sabah Welfare and Cultural Association (KGNS) Cultural Troupe showcased two traditional Dusun Gana dances during a visit by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students.
The performances, held at Taman Bandukan Bingkor, featured the Sumayau and Magunatip dances, accompanied by traditional gong music played by KGNS members.
The UMS students, part of the Ethnology of Dance program, selected KGNS for their field research to deepen their understanding of Dusun Gana culture.
Deputy President of KGNS, Haji Yazid Haji Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, welcomed the students and expressed gratitude to UMS for choosing KGNS as the focus of their study.
“This research benefits students by providing a deeper understanding of Dusun Gana cultural heritage and practices. KGNS remains committed to supporting and cooperating with anyone conducting field studies,” said Haji Yazid.
The event was also attended by KGNS committee members, who took the opportunity to share insights into their cultural preservation efforts.
