Kota Kinabalu: The First-Ever Kadazan-Dusun-English Misompuru Toastmasters Club, an online club, achieved the highest club recognition award conferred by Toastmasters International, The Smedley Distinguished Club Award for 2025-2026.
Toastmasters International accorded the Smedley Distinguished to Toastmasters Clubs who attained 10 out of 10 Distinguished Club Programme (DCP) Goals with having membership count of 25 and above during the term.
For the 2025-2026 term, under the leadership of club President Datuk Joanna Kitingan, she inspired two members in achieving The Triple Crown and have 25 individuals becoming a Misompuru Toastmasters Club member.
Misompuru Toastmasters Club was chartered in June 5, 2021. Since the date of her being chartered, the Club had achieved The Talk Up Toastmasters Award in March 31, 2023, The Beat the Clock Award in June 30, 2022-2023-2024, The President Distinguished Club Status in June 30, 2022-2023-2024-2025 and two members achieving the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award, the highest individual recognition award for a Toastmaster.
Joanna and the club expressed the utmost appreciation to all the EXCOs, eight core members and the 17 new members, who truly lived their Toastmasters aspirations and values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
A special shout-out and appreciation to The Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) for their close collaboration and support towards the club.
The President and Club attribute these achievements to the teamwork, commitment, exceptional networking and shared passion in promoting the Kadazan and Dusun culture and language by way of confident, clear and effective leaderships and communications.
