PENAMPANG: A section of Jalan Kibabaig at Km 1.060 has collapsed following strong drainage water flow, the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) confirmed Wednesday.

Earlier in a Facebook post, PWD said the road was not passable and advised motorists to use Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting as an alternative route until further notice.

The collapse is believed to have been triggered by continuous heavy rain in Penampang, which weakened the road structure and caused severe damage.

State Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said the affected structure is still under the jurisdiction of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
“I was informed that the box culvert crossing is still under DID. They’ll repair the damaged structure,” he said when contacted.

PWD added that updates on the road status and repair works will be provided from time to time through its official channels.
