Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan UMS Sepanggar opposite Alamesra here on Saturday.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.34am and deployed 10 personnel from the Lintas station, who arrived at the scene at 5.44am.
The collision involved a Perodua Viva and a Perodua Alza, with the Viva driver trapped inside the vehicle after both vehicles collided and veered onto the road shoulder.
Firefighters used specialised rescue equipment to extricate the trapped driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry medical personnel before his body was handed over to police for further action.
The 57-year-old driver of the Perodua Alza was unhurt, and the operation concluded at 6.55am after the scene was declared safe.
