KOTA KINABALU: Firefighters contained a forest fire covering about 10 acres along Jalan Penempatan, Bukit Hilltop, Luyang, on Sunday evening.

The Lintas Fire and Rescue Station deployed 17 personnel after receiving the emergency call at 6.55pm, with the first engine arriving six minutes later to find the fire spreading across hilly terrain.

Firefighters used fire beaters and created firebreaks to prevent the blaze from reaching nearby residential areas, and the operation was fully completed by 9.52pm with no casualties reported.
