BELURAN: A 49-year-old Indonesian man died after a two-storey non-permanent house was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Bayu Permai here on Thursday.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 9.40am, with firefighters arriving at the scene at 10.28am and bringing the fire under control at 12.30pm before ending the operation 10 minutes later.
The house was destroyed, while firefighters extinguished the blaze using a portable pump with water drawn from a nearby pond after encountering difficulties reaching the scene due to the lack of access.
The victim was found burnt to death, and his body was handed over to the police for further action after firefighters confirmed the area was safe.
