Independent candidate fails in court bid over Karanaan result
Kota Kinabalu: The High Court here on Wednesday dismissed an application for leave to commence judicial review filed by an independent candidate challenging the result of the Karanaan seat in the 2025 Sabah Election.

The applicant, Naomi @ Neomi Francis, who contested the Karanaan State Legislative Assembly seat, named the Election Commission and Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, the declared winner of the seat, as respondents.

She sought, among others, an order to quash the Election Commission’s declaration of Masidi as the winner.

Naomi also applied for an order to compel a fresh election for the constituency.

Judge Datuk Alexander Siew How Wai dismissed the application and ordered Naomi to pay RM5,000 in costs each to the respondents.
