PENAMPANG: A 42-year-old foreign woman was found dead in her apartment along Jalan Penampang Lama after her employer became concerned when she could not be contacted, said district police chief Supt Sammy Newton.
He said police received a report on the discovery at about 10pm on Tuesday, adding that the victim, a hairdresser, was living alone at the apartment.
Initial investigations found the employer went to the victim's residence after she failed to respond to calls throughout the morning, where the door was locked, and there was no response from inside.
Police, assisted by the Fire and Rescue Department, forced open the door and found the woman dead inside, while forensic examinations found no signs of foul play linked to the incident, Sammy said.
He said the case has been classified as a sudden death report pending the post-mortem results and further investigations, and advised the public not to speculate or circulate images or videos of the incident out of respect for the victim's family.
