Julita expressed appreciation to doctors, nurses, specialists and all healthcare personnel for their professionalism and commitment in ensuring healthcare services continue to be delivered, while also thanking those who have acknowledged the challenges facing the sector.
She clarified that her earlier statement that healthcare services could continue functioning well did not mean they were unaffected by the shortage of specialists, but rather reflected the continued efforts of healthcare workers to ensure the public receives treatment despite existing constraints.
She said efforts are being strengthened to attract, train and retain more medical specialists in Sabah, including encouraging medical officers to pursue specialist training, increasing the Federal Training Award quota for Sabah, providing the Rural Placement Incentive Payment (BIPP) and facilitating relocation claims for medical officers posted to the state.
Julita said the priority is to strengthen the healthcare system, attract and retain more medical specialists, and ensure Sabahans have access to quality, sustainable and equitable healthcare services.
