Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian barista has made history after winning the 2026 World Brewers Cup in Belgium.
Nas Jaafar became the first Malaysian to clinch the prestigious title, marking a major milestone for the country's specialty coffee industry.
The competition, held in Brussels, brought together top baristas from around the world to compete in manual coffee brewing.
"This victory means a lot of things — sleepless nights, pressure, practice, belief and the support of everyone who stood by me throughout this journey," he said.
The achievement was also celebrated by Malaysia Speciality Coffee
Facebook page, which described the win as historic.
The group said the achievement reflected years of preparation and sacrifice, including "the late nights, the pressure, the practice, the belief, and the quiet support from everyone who stood behind him along the way."
Nas also expressed his appreciation to everyone who supported him throughout his preparation and competition journey.
The victory has been widely celebrated within Malaysia's coffee community, with industry players hailing it as a landmark achievement for the country.
