Kota Kinabalu: A man who raped and sexually abused his stepdaughter was sentenced by the Sessions Court here to a total of 68 years' imprisonment and 10 strokes of the cane.
Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan meted out the sentence after finding the unrepresented man guilty of three counts of rape and two counts of sexual abuse against the underaged victim.
The court ordered the jail sentences for the first to fourth counts to run concurrently from the date of arrest, but consecutively with the fifth count, meaning the man will serve a total of 32 years in prison.
The man was also ordered to undergo rehabilitative counselling while serving his time and to be placed under police supervision for three years upon his release.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis prosecuted the case, during which the prosecution called six witnesses and the defence called two.
