Kota Kinabalu: Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah said the Sabah Smart Parking (SSP) system resumed operations on Thursday (July 2) following a temporary disruption that affected several digital services.
“The security of user information and transactions remains protected. Immediate measures have been taken to safeguard the interests of users,” he said in a statement.
Sabin said City Hall (DBKK) suspended enforcement of parking compounds during the incident as an early mitigation measure.
“We have directed the system operator and the relevant technical teams to submit a full technical report on this matter. A police report has also been lodged in connection with the incident,” he said.
He said investigations and technical assessments were still ongoing.
“We hope the public will remain calm and allow space for the system to be fully restored. DBKK will not draw premature conclusions on this matter,” he said.
Sabin said the protection of user data remained DBKK’s utmost priority.
“Should any findings confirm unauthorised access to personal data, we hope such findings will be reported to the authorities immediately,” he said.
He thanked users and the public for their patience and cooperation, and acknowledged the coordination among DBKK Holdings, the system operator and all relevant technical teams in restoring the SSP system and minimising inconvenience to users.
“DBKK remains committed to safeguarding public interests and ensuring the continuous well-being of Kota Kinabalu residents. The public is advised to refer only to official DBKK announcements and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary concern,” he said.
