Eleven houses destroyed in Kampung Kalansanan fire

Kota Kinabalu: Eleven houses were destroyed while another was partially damaged in a fire at Kampung Kalansanan, Inanam, on Friday night.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 9.20pm and firefighters from the Lintas, Kota Kinabalu and Penampang stations arrived at the scene at 9.30pm.

The fire involved 12 non-permanent houses covering a total area of 277.34 square metres, with 11 razed and one sustaining 50 per cent damage.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 10.48pm using three hose lines with six nozzles supplied by fire engines, a water tanker and an open water source from a nearby river, before concluding operations at 1.27am.

No casualties were reported and the operation, involving 37 firefighters with assistance from police, RELA and Sabah Electricity, ended after the area was declared safe.
