Kota Kinabalu: Five enterprises emerged winners at the Shell LiveWire Malaysia Sabah challenge at Plaza Shell, Friday, as part of its continued efforts to empower innovation and entrepreneurship among local business talents.
Amidst more than 60 participants, Bunga Nabalu & Co, Maryland, Einstronic Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Dinma Trading and Rose’s Heritage TeaLinsouBunga emerged winners.
Their journey began with an intensive bootcamp aimed at strengthening their entrepreneurial capabilities.
From there, 10 finalists were shortlisted for the final pitching round, where they presented compelling business proposals and demonstrated strong potential for innovation and growth.
After a rigorous evaluation process, five standout enterprises were named this year’s champions.
Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited (SSPC) General Manager Alexon Jong said the programme continues to reinforce Shell’s belief in the potential of local entrepreneurs.
“Beyond a programme, Shell LiveWire serves as a platform that inspires aspiring entrepreneurs to turn ideas into reality,” he said.
“Witnessing the passion and resilience of our local talents reinforces the real impact this initiative can deliver.
“It empowers individuals to build sustainable businesses that not only drive their own growth but also uplift communities and create meaningful employment.
“I encourage budding entrepreneurs to take part and tap into the guidance, tools and support needed to bring their ambitions to life,” he said.
Each of the five winning enterprises received a RM10,000 startup grant from Shell, along with a year-long business coaching programme to help refine their strategies and scale their ventures.
The winners also gain access to the global LiveWire network, an international community of entrepreneurs where they can exchange ideas, share experiences, and potentially be selected for the Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.
The judges for Shell LiveWire Malaysia 2026 Sabah state finals comprised Daily Express Senior Editor Leonard Alaza, Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) Assistant Director for Capacity Building and Ecosystem Uliantie Sarjuni, and Shell Malaysia Senior Manager for Mobility Sales and Operations Dr Alex Pega.
Also in attendance was Shell Malaysia Director of Corporate Relations Cindy Lopez.
Shell LiveWire is the flagship enterprise development programme of Shell, strengthening local economies across the globe by promoting entrepreneurship and developing entrepreneurs.
The programme began in Sabah in 2015, followed by Sarawak in 2016 and Peninsular Malaysia in 2022, and aims to inspire young entrepreneurs to innovate and produce real business solutions that meet today’s socio-economic needs.
The event was officiated by State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Deputy Permanent Secretary I Suhaib Ismail.
The initiative reflects Shell’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and elevating local business talent.
